Life in the Finger Lakes, Summer, 2015

It's August 12, and as I predicted (to myself), this year is flying by. And...I am beginning to want Time to slow down....for years and years, I kept thinking ahead...to...when Allison starts school...summer vacation....when Allison goes to middle school....when we move....when the husband retires...when Allison graduates high school...Bryn Mawr....Yale....when Allison moves to Ithaca to teach at Cornell...when Allison gets engaged....when Allison gets married...when Allison and Sam go on their honeymoon to Paris and London....when they get back, because it's been two weeks of me taking care of four animals....two cats at my home, a cat and a very active Boston Terrier at her place....now....it's....when Allison and Sam have some personal business come to be....won't say yet, because, if this ends up on Facebook, then....I has to be still and quiet on this for ju

st a few more weeks. And when all that begins to transpire....and become reality.....

But when does ...this "when this happens and when that happens" mentality....that most of us live with day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year.... stop being the main thoughts of our lives?

I just want to live for each moment....the only thing I would like to look forward to...is a sunset at the end of the day....or that yummy watermelon cooling in the 'fridge...a glass of wine...a cuddle with that said douchey Boston Terrier, or my lovely Abby....this Rush of When This Happens and That Happens...well, it happens....and then what? I'm 65 years old....don't rush Days, Minutes, Seconds...Take your Time....Don't Fly Away....Don't.....

  1. Hi, Elayne! I want you to know that I am still here following you all these months after you last posted. I am age 65 now and can testify that life is so much better when you live in the moment. Take your time, savor life's simple pleasures and think of every new day as a clean slate, a fresh start.
